Course of

Design

The jewellery designer is a professional who is able to gather and transform suggestions, stimuli and demands of the company and the market into real creations. He has a great knowledge of techniques, materials and trends and knows how to originally reinterpret what he selects through a design method. If your dream is to design jewellery, you must be able to translate what you have in your mind in a professional and detailed way, because giving shape to ideas is the designer’s job.

A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the Course program.

Program

The Course is divided into two parts: the first, of a propaedeutic nature, is dedicated to learning freehand drawing techniques, from the first rudiments up to drawing a piece of jewellery in two or three dimensions in a clear and explicative manner. Particular emphasis is given to drawing complex volumes and colouring techniques that are peculiar to the representation of this type of accessory. Every stone, every bezel and every detail will be perfectly represented through design exercises of increasing difficulty. The second part of the Course focuses on the understanding of the design method through the analysis of all its phases: research of the idea, re-elaboration and transfer of the concept, representation of the jewel using techniques learnt in the first phase. The Course ends with the realisation of a capsule collection of 3 pieces of jewellery represented ‘in a workmanlike manner’ through necessary and explanatory drawings (sketches, axonometries, exploded views, technical drawings). A focus on a hypothetical reference brand is foreseen in order to make each final work even more concrete and adherent to the market.
