Jewellery repair

A very useful Course for professionals in the field, but also excellent for those who, starting out an own business, want to provide a complete service and build customer loyalty. In fact, jewellery repair and restoration are among the most demanded activities on the market. This Course explores the techniques working on the most frequent cases of repairing or adjusting goldsmith and jewellery pieces. For this reason, part of the Course is dedicated to repair or reconstruction of real objects of external customers.

A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the Course program.

Program

Distinction between repair and restoration: theoretical introduction. Fire-resistant stones, analysis of old welds. How to make an quote. Construction of a plain band ring with bezel, sizing of a ring with a flanged shank, with bezel and set stone. How to repair a fine chain. Converting a 40 cm chain into two bracelets with finials and a lobster claw. How to change a pair of earrings from a stud to a clip. How an earring can become a shank ring. How to disassemble a bead, how to remove a stone from its bezel, how to repair a hollow reed, how to repair a tennis bracelet. History vintage jewels and identification of the manufacture period. Metal fineness and historical alloys of silver, rose gold and platinum, materials and brands. Object diagnosis: alloys, stones and their cuts. Settings, welding and assembly techniques.
