Professional Jewellery Polishing

A super specialised Course particularly suited to professionals and advanced amateurs. The great international jewellery Brands today demand a level of absolute excellence in polishing and the Course responds to this demand. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the tools, techniques and tricks of the trade to pass the strict microscope quality controls of major companies and customers. An essential Course that leads the student to develop the right mindset for ‘zero tolerance’ in polishing. The goal? To achieve an absolutely perfect piece of jewellery.

A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the Course program.

Program

Approach to the very high quality standards of the major jewellery Brands. Future trends and tolerance criteria. Detailed presentation and method of use/cleaning and organisation of the polishing bench and finishing tools, from emery to final mirror polishing. Characteristics of rolled, drawn and filed metals and casting problems. Glove types, characteristics and how to use them. Grinding: abrasive papers. Pullers and beaters: how to make them and their use. The world of brushes, abrasive and polishing pastes. The axe: the art of preparing and using it.

The Master will show the students each operation of the polishing cycle in detail, using every type of support, from the simple plate to the high jewellery ring, and every type of situation, from the simplest to the most complex, up to the final check with a 10X lens.
